The Voices That Influence or shape us

Have you ever stopped to think about the voices that shape our lives? We're constantly being influenced by various opinions and perspectives, some of which can have a profound impact on our thoughts, beliefs, and actions. Today, I want us to take a pause and ask ourselves, what has shaped my life, mentally, my views and etc. Upon introspection, we realize that our lives have been shaped by a multitude of voices, each contributing to our development. The dominant voice we've allowed to shape us is reflected in our disposition, which is often what others perceive when they interact with us. This realization prompts us to consider the sources of these voices, including our upbringing, culture, relationships, experiences, and personal choices.

The Voices That Shape Us
- Education: What we learn in school, home and from our experiences.
- Social opinions: What others think and say about us and the world around us, especially culture and traditions.
- The devil: The enemy of our souls, seeking to lead us astray
- Personal experiences: Our individual circumstances and challenges
- Internal thoughts: Our own minds and emotions

By acknowledging and evaluating these influences, we can identify areas where we may need to reassess our perspectives and make intentional decisions about which voices to amplify or diminish. This self-awareness enables us to cultivate a more authentic sense of self, aligning with our values and purpose. These voices can start as mere opinions, but over time, they can become the builders of our lives, constructing a framework that shapes our disposition and behavior. The danger of misaligned influences are very disastrous and If we're not careful, we can find ourselves built on shaky ground, with a foundation that's not aligned with God's plan for our lives.

Building on a Strong Foundation:
A Christian's Blueprint
As followers of Christ, constructing a life on a solid foundation is crucial. To achieve this, we must anchor ourselves in God's Word, allowing it to shape and fill us with the Spirit of God. A strong foundation requires intentionality in what we consume, carefully avoiding influences that may seem insignificant but contradict God's plan for us as His children. With soberness and discernment, we can build a life rooted in the unshakeable rock of God's truth. This foundation will weather life's storms, providing a steadfast base for growth, wisdom, and a deepening relationship with our Heavenly Father. As Children of CHRIST,  our ultimate influence is CHRIST and this can be done only by His Word, this will take away any lustful or sinful desires away from our heart and help us focus keenly on how to please HIM who has called us into His marvellous light.

The transformative power of God's Word can only be fully realized in our lives when we submit with humble hearts and obey with eager willingness. This requires us to shed the remnants of our old nature and embrace the new, renewed in the knowledge of Christ. As we put on this new nature, we desire to reflect Christ in every aspect of our lives. With the mind of Christ, which we have been given, let us engage in a life that showcases His light through our character, speech, and thought patterns. As we do so, others will undoubtedly notice the radiance of God within us and give glory to our Father in Heaven.

Reflection
1. Let's take ownership of the voices that shape us, mindful of their impact on our lives, and strive to create a harmonious balance that reflects our truest selves according to the word of GOD.
2. Let's be mindful of the voices that shape our lives and make sure we're building on a foundation that will stand the test of time. By turning to God's Word and seeking His guidance, we can ensure that our lives are shaped in a way that honors Him.

Comments

  1. Indeed building on a strong foundation is key, for that is where we can be sure that one will be able to stand the test of time (Matthew 7:24-27).
If the foundation is faulty what can the righteous do
The start, beginning, inception of a thing is key hence should be in alignment to the word of God

This is a great piece and am blessed by it

The Humble Journey of a Minister: Embracing God’s Timing and Calling

"True ministry isn’t about how fast you rise or how loud your voice is; it’s about how faithfully you serve where He’s placed you." But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. — Matthew 6:33 In a world where zeal, ambition, and titles often take center stage, young ministers—especially in the Gen-Z generation—are often tempted to rush ahead, seeking recognition, platforms, and accolades. While passion for ministry is vital, there’s a crucial step that many overlook: developing a deep, personal relationship with God, grounded in Scripture, prayer, and godly character. 1. Focus on Personal Growth First As a youth pastor or young minister, your first priority should be personal growth, not mentoring or leading large groups. It's tempting to jump into leadership roles, especially when your zeal burns bright. However, mentorship, counseling, and partnering with others can come later. Instead, devote yourself ...

Pride Yourself in God - Embrace His Calling

“Out of the mouth of babies and sucklings, You have ordained praise.” — Psalm 8:2 God has always been in the business of using people who seem statusless, positionless, or powerless to fulfill His assignments. From the beginning of time, God has demonstrated His ability to work through individuals who, in the eyes of the world, appear unqualified or insignificant. But one thing is certain—He always prepares His chosen vessels beforehand. As we carry out any assignment for God, there are two critical things we must always keep in mind: 1. God Does Not Consider Your Status Before Sending You God’s choice to send someone on an assignment is not based on family background, social status, or personal qualifications. Often, the tasks He gives far exceed what the individual could achieve in their own strength. Consider Elijah, a man from the obscure village of Gilead. We know little about his family, education, or upbringing. Yet, in 1 Kings 17:1, Elijah was sent to confront Ahab,...
