Introduction: The Universal Creator
God is the Creator of all things—both seen and unseen. He made the heavens, the earth, and everything within them, yet Scripture reveals a critical distinction: while He is the God of all creation, not all people truly belong to Him. Some acknowledge His existence but remain separated from Him, while others are reconciled through Christ and receive His divine life. Throughout history, humanity has wrestled with the nature of God, the reality of spiritual beings, and the question of belonging. Many assume that different religions serve different gods, but this perspective can unintentionally support polytheism—the belief in multiple deities. The Bible, however, asserts that there is only one true God, despite the presence of many spiritual entities that seek worship.
This teaching will explore the spiritual hierarchy of creation, the rebellion of angels and humanity, the judgment of sin, the failure of human knowledge and morality to reconcile people to God, and the ultimate necessity of faith in Christ as the only means of salvation.
1. One God, Not Many
Many cultures use different names for the Supreme Being—whether GOD, EL, YAHWEH, JEHOVAH, or other variations. However, what matters is not the name itself but the nature, character, attributes, and Word of the one true God. If any of these are misrepresented, then what is being worshiped is not truly God but a distorted or even demonic substitute.
Biblical Affirmation of One God
1. Deuteronomy 6:4 – “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.”
2. Isaiah 45:5 – “I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me, there is no God.”
3. 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 – “For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth… yet for us, there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.”
While different spirits exist and some receive worship, they are not divine in the true sense but rather created beings.
2. God as the Creator of All
God alone is the Creator, the source of all life, and the sustainer of the universe. Nothing exists outside of His will and power.
Scriptural Proof of God’s Sovereign Creation
1. Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
2. Psalm 24:1 – “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
3. Colossians 1:16 – “For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.”
While God created all things, not everything remains obedient to Him. Some angels and humans have chosen rebellion, leading to consequences in both the spiritual and physical realms.
3. The Spiritual Hierarchy: Angels and Humans
God created spiritual beings—commonly known as angels—who serve different roles in His divine order. These beings vary in form, function, and rank.
Types of Angels in Scripture
1. Cherubim – Guardians of God’s presence (Genesis 3:24, Ezekiel 10).
2. Seraphim – Worshippers around God’s throne (Isaiah 6:1-3).
3. Archangels – High-ranking messengers and warriors (Jude 1:9, Daniel 10:13).
4. Elders in Heaven – Spiritual authorities in God’s kingdom (Revelation 4:4).
These beings possess power, wisdom, and strength, but their allegiance to God is what determines their place in His kingdom.
4. The Fall of Angels and the Corruption of Worship
Lucifer, a high-ranking angel, led a rebellion against God, taking other angels with him. These fallen beings, now called demons, seek worship for themselves and lead humanity into idolatry.
The Fall of Satan and His Followers
1. Isaiah 14:12 – “How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!”
2. Jude 1:6 – “And the angels who did not stay within their position of authority but left their proper dwelling, He has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day.”
3. Revelation 12:7-9 – “Then war broke out in heaven… the great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray.”
These fallen beings influence human societies, spreading deception and false worship.
5. The Sin of Humanity and the Judgment of God
Just as angels fell, humanity also fell through disobedience in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). This brought sin, death, and separation from God.
The Consequence of Sin
1. Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
2. Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death.”
3. Genesis 6:5 – “The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.”
Without divine intervention, humanity is doomed under God’s righteous judgment.
6. The Failure of Knowledge, Morality, and Religion to Reconcile Humanity to God
Many attempt to reach God through human wisdom, morality, or religion, but Scripture makes it clear that these efforts are insufficient.
The Inadequacy of Human Effort
1. Isaiah 64:6 – “All our righteous acts are like filthy rags.”
2. 1 Corinthians 1:21 – “For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know Him.”
3. Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Only God’s intervention can restore what was lost.
7. The Restoration of God Through Christ
God, in His mercy, provided a way for humanity to be restored—through Jesus Christ.
The Gift of Salvation
1. John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.”
2. John 14:6 – “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
3. 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
Through Jesus, believers receive eternal life and true reconciliation with God.
8. The Necessity of Faith in Christ
Faith in Christ is the only way to salvation. No other path leads to God.
Why Faith Is Necessary
1. Acts 4:12 – “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
2. Hebrews 11:6 – “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”
3. Romans 10:9 – “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Conclusion: Choose Whom You Will Serve
God is the Creator of all, but only those who receive His life through Christ truly belong to Him. The choice is yours: Will you continue relying on human effort, or will you place your faith in Christ?
As Joshua declared: “Choose this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
